Public Speaking 101


“Public Speaking 101”, is a workshop that prepares youth to speak comfortably in front of groups. It teaches coping skills for anxiety and nervousness, provides tips on how to prepare and deliver speeches, as well as allows the youth an opportunity to speak in front of their peers. This workshop also prepares youth for speaking engagements, debates and job and college interviews.




“From Dreamer to Doer” Dreams and Goal Setting



“From Dreamer to Doer”, is a workshop that helps youth decipher between their dreams and goals, create a realistic plan of action, and allows them to work on more than one goal simultaneously. Each youth will identify at least two goals, discover the steps and resources to achieve the goals, and complete a goal setting tree for quick reference to stay on track. Each participant will also receive a detailed description of their goal and dreams so that they can be informed of what it really takes to pursue their aspirations.



“Miss Independent” Etiquette training for girls



By completing “Miss Independent” a 2 day workshop, young ladies will learn how to express internal feelings to an external world. On day one, participants will learn how to identify signs of depression and anxiety, develop coping skills to manage their emotions and practice effective communication with their fellow female cohorts through role playing. On day two, participants will gain tips on how to dress in ways that are positive and complimentary, learn about skin care and the correct way to apply make up to meeting social expectations, and practice etiquette in preparation for when the time arrives for dating.



“So what’s Next?” After High School Planning & Career Guidance



“So what’s Next”, is a workshop that uses the Career Thoughts Inventory of the Psychological Assessment Resources, Inc. Each participant will take the inventory and become aware of negative career thoughts (identify), consider the validity of the negative thoughts (challenge) or alter them, and ultimately be able to take action and make good career choices. Each participant will take a work book with them that includes an Individual Action Plan (IAP) that they will complete and use as a reference for their career planning.



Processing Emotions through Music, Art, and Poetry



“Processing Emotions through Music, Art, and Poetry", is a workshop where youth will learn to identify messages in music, art, and poetry and how to express and process their own feelings and emotions. They will also have the opportunity to write and share their own music and poetry pieces.





“Let’s Work it Out!” Conflict Resolution



“Let’s Work it Out!”, is a special training that focuses on student conflicts in the academic setting. Students will learn how to effectively communicate their feelings, take responsibility for their actions, and devise viable solutions individual (s) involved.
