“Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those who sang best.”

Torri S.Hicks, raised by her mother, along with an older brother, was spiritually and lovingly nurtured by her maternal grandparents, wholeheartedly believes that within each child lies a talent that is theirs alone, their gift to the world. She recognizes that this talent is a result of a passion that is freely placed in each life by God, blessed to produce much. She is eternally grateful to her mother for the gift of friendship and for instilling in her the significance and value of self respect, knowledge, and perseverance.

Ms.Hicks grew up near Detroit in Farmington, Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University (East Lansing) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Family Community Services. She furthered her education at Argosy University (Atlanta, Georgia) where she received a Masters of Arts degree in Counseling and where she is currently pursuing a Certification in Marriage and Family Therapy. However, it was her love of young people and extensive work experience with non profit agencies and developing youth programs which has led her to her lifelong passion of founding, “YouthNique”, “YouthNique”, an organization committed to the development of empowering young people to make better choices, choose better alternatives and shape their own, unique successes.

Always an advocate for young people, Ms.Hicks knows the importance of an education as well as how crucial it is to know “how” to follow dreams while developing self respect. Her diversity in working with multi cultural communities and people from all socio-economic backgrounds has equipped her to be an effective and positive communicator. Torri’s creative flair and enthusiastic energy is reflected in her drive and determination to make a difference because she hears the softest voice to the loudest voice, both singing tunes that are instinctively and intrinsically, woven into the talent in each child.

Currently residing outside Atlanta, in Lithonia, Georgia she enjoys writing, listening to “old school music”, exercise and practicing a healthy, well balanced lifestyle. Her favorite bible verse is, “…to whom much is given, much is required…” and this verse aptly describes her perseverance to work as hard as it takes to make sure that each voice, singing in the tunes of life, are heard.
